Based on the consensus of the two localities and the Ministry of Transport, the Prime Minister agreed to assign the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to be the competent state agency to implement the project.

Mr. Phan Cong Bang, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, said that with this project, Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh province will carry out the site clearance by themselves, the construction and installation will be performed under the BT contract. Currently, the units are submitting the investment policy, trying to start construction in early 2022.

Expectations for Tay Ninh province in the coming years

According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Tai, Director of the Department of Transport of Tay Ninh province, currently the main traffic connecting axis between Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh and other countries in the region is National Highway 22. However, this traffic route has been exceeded. After a long time of loading, the vehicles often suffered from prolonged traffic jams to reach Tay Ninh. Thus, the connection efficiency between the province and the southern key economic region is not high.

Therefore, the construction of this expressway plays an extremely important role in the economic development of the province. Therefore, for many years, Tay Ninh province has always expected the project to be invested soon, contributing to promoting local and regional economic development. The province is determined to coordinate and bring the project to the finish line on schedule.

Talking about the economic role of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tai said that this is one of the six economic corridors of Ho Chi Minh City connecting with the Southeast and the Mekong Delta. At the same time, the expressway is also located in the economic corridor connecting east-west to the south, starting from Vung Tau - Ho Chi Minh City - Tay Ninh - Thailand - Cambodia - Myanmar.

Above all, Tay Ninh is the gateway connecting with Moc Bai - Ba Vet border gate and directly trading with countries in the Mekong region. Therefore, investment in this expressway is an urgent requirement because not only inter-regional economic connection but also multinational connection.

“The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway will reduce the waste of time and material, bring economic efficiency, and improve the competitiveness of the Vietnamese economy. In particular, the expressway passes through three districts of Tay Ninh province with a length of 28 km, this is the driving force contributing to the key economic development of the South in general and Tay Ninh in particular. With all the above meanings, the province is always willing and ready to invest and build this expressway, "- Mr. Tai shared.

Expecting about the project, Mr. Luong Minh Phuc, Director of the Investment Project Management Board for the construction of traffic works in the city, said that the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway will be the shortest road connecting the economic region. Southern key economic zone, Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodia through Moc Bai - Ba Vet border gate.

The new expressway will help reduce travel time and transportation costs, and reduce traffic congestion on the current Trans-Asia route. This is also a seamless bridge with the transport infrastructure in the region and the planning of the northwest area of Ho Chi Minh City through three intersections namely Ring 3, Provincial Road 8 and Ring 4.

* Note: Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway will start from Ring Road 3 (Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh City), parallel to Tan Chanh Hiep - Trang Bang railway (Tay Ninh). At the Go Dau railway station, turn right, cut through National Highway 22B, then continue to turn right, cross Vam Co River towards Highway 22 connecting to Moc Bai border gate.
