Tay Ninh Industrial Zones benefit from the development of transport infrastructure

The development of key connected transport infrastructure has contributed to Tay Ninh's achievements in industrial development in the past 2020-2025 period. In 2020, the province's gross domestic product (GRDP) increased by 3.9% over the same period, although it did not meet the proposed Resolution (an increase of 8% or more), it was the highest result that the province could achieve and higher than the average growth rate of the whole country.

Total state budget revenue is estimated at VND 10,050 billion, reaching 100.5% of the estimate, up 4.6% over the same period; investment capital for social development compared to GRDP reached 40.1%, exceeding the target set by the Resolution. Disbursement of public investment capital had positive changes, estimated at 98.63% of the plan.

In terms of Provincial Competitiveness in 2019, Tay Ninh ranked 15th out of 63 provinces and cities with 67.05 points. In 2018, Tay Ninh ranked 14th in the country, with 64.54 points. Thus, despite being reduced by one place in the ranking compared to 2018, Tay Ninh's score has improved significantly and is still in the group of 16 provinces and cities with the best results in the PCI 2019.

1. Prioritizing the development of transport infrastructure to create a driving force to attract investment capital

In the period of 2020-2025, Tay Ninh will focus more strongly on exploiting the advantage of geographical location located in the southern key economic region, located on the East-West corridor, Trans-Asia route and has 3 gates international exports to Cambodia to strongly develop in-depth industry, logistics services, and promote cross-border economy.

For the operation of the Traffic Infrastructure Working Group, it has accelerated the implementation of important projects, handled the site problems and implemented the construction of 5/6 bidding packages with site clearance problems for the Irrigation project. area to the west of Vam Co Dong river. The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province also discussed and proposed the implementation plan of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway project. Notably, the Traffic Infrastructure Working Group organized an inspection of the Saigon River route and advised the Provincial People's Committee to propose the Ministry of Transport to supplement the planning of an inland waterway port and ICD inland port on the Saigon River.

Specifically: On October 12, 2020, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province and the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province started the construction of a bridge and road connecting traffic project between the two provinces. According to the project, Binh Duong will build a bridge and road with a scale of 6 lanes crossing the Saigon River, connecting DT744 road (Dau Tieng district, Binh Duong province) and Dat Set - Ben Cui road (Duong Minh district). Chau, Tay Ninh). Total investment in Binh Duong is about 370 billion VND, construction is expected to take place within 15 months. Before that, the authorities of Tay Ninh province started construction of a nearly 13km road connecting Tay Ninh with the bridge and road that Binh Duong province built. The total investment of the project in Tay Ninh is 518 billion VND, expected to be completed by the end of 2021.

2. Industrial parks associated with infrastructure development

After a period of upgrading traffic routes, industrial production activities of Tay Ninh have grown very well. The pace of industrialization is also very fast with the share of industry and services now accounting for 75.5% of the GRDP. In which, the industry contributes the highest to local economic growth, reaching 38.7% in 2020.

The industrial production value of the province has increased sharply in recent years, proving that the absorption of investment capital in industrial production in general and in industrial zones in particular is achieving good results. This is considered an indicator of the initial success in reaching the goal of becoming a fairly developed province in 2030 of Tay Ninh.

Currently, Tay Ninh province has 6 industrial parks located in the planning of Vietnam's industrial zones approved by the Prime Minister with a total natural land area of ​​3,969 hectares, industrial land for lease is 2,540. hectares. The leased area is 1,516.60 hectares, reaching the occupancy rate of nearly 60%.

With the transport infrastructure connecting Tay Ninh with Ho Chi Minh (considered as a center for attracting and allocating investment capital) as well as neighboring localities with industrial strengths such as Binh Duong, Long An, etc. helping capital transfer and industrial production grow strongly between localities. In particular, Tay Ninh enjoys specific benefits from this shift. Improved transport infrastructure makes investment in production in the eyes of investors in Tay Ninh more attractive.

According to Mr. Ha Van Cung (Head of Tay Ninh Economic Zone Management Board), from the beginning of 2021 to now, industrial parks have attracted 348.5 million USD of foreign investment capital. In which, there are 2 capital adjustment projects (Sailun Company and Lian Ta Hsing Company Limited in Phuoc Dong Industrial Park) with an additional capital of 352 million USD and 2 new projects with registered capital. signed 16.5 million USD.

Up to now, industrial parks and border-gate economic zones in Tay Ninh province have attracted 362 foreign and domestic investment projects with a total registered investment capital of 7,486.11 million USD and over 18,500 billion USD. VND, creating jobs for 130,500 workers inside and outside the province.

In the coming time, Tay Ninh will give priority to attracting large investment projects with advanced technology, quality products and stable market. Although there have been initial successes in attracting investors, in the new period, Tay Ninh has actively innovated its attraction strategy to create a new breakthrough. The province focuses on strongly developing processing and manufacturing industries associated with smart, environment-friendly, less labor-intensive technologies.
