Complete construction of Long Thanh Airport before March 31, 2025

The investor of 4 component projects of Long Thanh International Airport must be completed regarding construction and installation of equipment before March 31st, 2025 for testing in the second quarter of 2025.

This is the latest request of the Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The for the progress of project of Long Thanh International Airport - Phase No.1 mentioned in Notice No.214/TB – BGTVT.

Accordingly, this Transport Sector commander also requires investors to complete all construction and equipment installation for all four component projects before March 31st, 2025 to conduct inspection and operation. Test run will be completed in the second quarter of 2025 and officially put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Minister of Transport assigned the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to take the prime responsibility and coordinate with the Director of the Department of Construction and Quality Management of Traffic Works in directing the development and approval of the overall implementation plan for 4 component projects of Long Thanh International Airport with site clearance work, which must be approved by the deadline July 8th, 2021.

“Relevant agencies and units must closely coordinate with Dong Nai province to develop an overall implementation schedule with the milestone of completing all site clearance work in 2021 in accordance with the direction of the Government and National Assembly", Minister Nguyen Van The required.

Based on functions and tasks assigned by the Ministry of Transport, The Minister also requested the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (AVC), the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the Department of Construction and Quality Management of Traffic Works to urgently develop reports on the implementation of the Long Thanh international airport project, clearly showing their owned difficulties, problems, proposals and recommendations.

It is known that for the Project Component 3, ACV had set out a plan to implement the main timeline of the Project, starting time of of construction from January 2021 with the survey, site clearance to find mines threats and explosives and finishing time in December 2025 after completing the construction and trial operation.

In the mid June 2021, ACV had completed demining for more than 25% of the total area of ​​Phase 1 of the project and built more than 1,750m of boundary wall. It is expected that this unit will complete the construction of 8,668m of fences in September 2021 and finish demining work in December 2021. As for the leveling and drainage works for the passenger terminal area and the aircraft apron is being designed to be constructed in November 2021 to prepare the ground for the commencement of the foundation of the passenger terminal in February 2022. The remaining areas will be constructed in the first quarter of 2022;

Regarding the technical design of the passenger terminal, ACV said that it has selected the design unit as a consulting consortium led by Heerim (Korea) to author the passenger terminal architectural plan. The technical design step has been implemented since May 2021 and urgently implemented the appraisal and pre-approval process for the foundation to start the station in February 2022.

For, Component 2 Project - Works for flight management, invested by Vietnam Flight Management Corporation (VATM) with a total investment of VND 3,435 billion, is expected to start construction from May 2023 and June 2023 and completed and put into operation from July 2025 to December 2025.
